The British government celebrated On Tuesday, the official launch of the youth mobility visa UK India as an example of the significance of bilateral ties that bring “great benefits” to both nations.
India-UK Young Professionals Scheme was launched for graduates between the ages of 18 and 30 eager to travel, live, and study work in either country for up to two years.
The reciprocal system was approved by Prime Ministers Rishi Sunak and Narendra Modi at the end of last year & is envisioned as an opportunity for young people from both countries to “inject expertise into both economies” and “benefit from cultural experiences.”
“The Young Professionals Scheme is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for Indian and UK graduates while building, to experience the richness of a new culture and way of life their expertise and professional experience,” said Robert Jenrick, Minister of Immigration of the UK.
"The significance of our relationship is demonstrated by this new scheme with India & will benefit both nations greatly. I support young professionals from the UK and India who are eager to share their talents and skills in order to apply,” he said.
Beginning on Tuesday, Indian nationals who are eligible for the program can participate in a free ballot for 48 hours 2,400 applicants were selected at random will then be notified to apply for visas at the British High Commission.
A second ballot will be held Later in the year
On the UK side, British citizens who would like to travel to India have been invited by London's Indian High Commission to use a new uk visa application process that is under on the Young Professionals Scheme's website to apply ( UK visa from india ).
"The UK encourages young professionals from both countries to participate in this cultural exchange and experience the other country," the British Home Office stated.
Even though successful applicants will have access to some work opportunities, The plan is being presented as a cultural exchange, with employment serving as an "incidental" component of the 24-month stay in either country.
The Young Professionals Scheme is part of the UK-India Partnership for Mobility and Migration (MMP) which was signed by in May 2021 Priti Patel, the UK's then-home secretary, and S Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs.
The MMP includes, according to the UK government a variety of commitments to improve migration arrangements such as measures to “strengthen our ability to remove immigrants who have broken the law.” and increase cooperation in the fight against organized immigration crime.
