US extends premium processing of work permits for some students on F-1 visas

The US Citizenship and Migration Administrations (USCIS) reported that it would now let specific F-1 students choose premium processing services.

F-1 students looking for Optional Practical Training (OPT) and. F-1 students seeking OPT extensions in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). who have an pending Application for Employment Authorization Form I-765 may request a premium processing upgrade. According to a media release , premium processing will begin on March 6, with additional categories beginning on April 3.

“The expansion of premium processing is part of USCIS’, as previously announced efforts to make the immigration system as a whole more effective and less burdensome, and will be implemented in stages, “USCIS stated in a statement.

Starting April 3, Accept for Form I-907 can be submitted online or on paper to USCIS for F-1 students who fall into the aforementioned categories when submitted with Form I-765.

For a pending Form I-765, USCIS has said that premium processing requests will be rejected if received prior to March 6, and any premium processing request for an initial will be rejected or simultaneously submitted and received Form I-765 prior to April 3
